Dryness is what pops bubbles, not sharpness. This is because the water from the bubble will wet the surface of the dry material, and this causes there to not be enough water molecules to keep the bubble intact.

Bubbles made of soapy water pop because something (or someone!) breaks the thin layer of lined up soapy “surfactant” and water molecules, letting all the gas out that has been neatly stored in a little sphere.
