When I was in primary school I wanted to be an author because I read a lot of books by Jacqueline Wilson, Enid Blyton, Cathy Cassidy etc. After changing my mind a lot about my career I now want to use my training as a scientist to become a science writer!
Well, to be honest, I liked trains when I was younger – say 10-15 years old – so, I aspired to be a train driver. But reality set in, I realized I was not good with electrical science and hence had to give off my aspiration.
As a child, I was really into space, so I wanted to be an astronaut. As I grew up I found out that astronauts need to go through lots of medical testing, and I have a massive phobia of needles, so I realised I couldn’t really be an astronaut anymore…

When I was younger I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be but I do remember thinking that being a Vet might be fun as I loved animals and had pets at home. I loved reading and I loved studying at school, but it wasn’t until I was 14yrs old that I wanted to become a Doctor. I changed my mind at 17yrs old having completed a rotation in the hospital. At this point I wasn’t sure what job I wanted to do instead, I just knew my favourite subject was Human Biology.
The first job I ever wanted was to be a rugby league player for Bradford Bulls. As this didn’t happen I think the first thing I wanted to realistically do was probably medical doctor.
