Platinum has been used for along time because of its ability to stick to the DNA in cancer cells and disrupt its role in the cell but this is thought of as a more “sledgehammer” approach where you hit the body with a toxic platinum-based drug and hope the cancer cells respond more to it than the healthy cells do.

Nowadays cancer drug molecules contain typical elements found in organic chemistry like carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, chlorine, fluorine, bromine, phosphorus too!
