• Question: I am interested in persuing a career in medicene, but I'm not really interested in going to university, even though thta would be beneficial for me. Do you have to go to university or could you maybe go into an apprenticeship instead?

      To go into medicine, I think you will have to get through university. Apprenticeship could work but without a proper degree, it is impossible (it is unfair I understand) to go up the ladder with an apprenticeship.

    A career in medicine doesn’t always mean becoming a doctor or a nurse. You can qualify as a lab technician for working in a hospital lab to help process the 1000s of patient blood samples. Administration is also a really important role in GP surgeries, hospitals etc. so if you like organising things you could do a job like that. The NHS are short of health physicists so if you didn’t fancy a longer medicine degree you could study phsyics instead and work in the radiotherapy departments. There are loads of options if you don’t want to go down the medicine degree route. I personally didn’t have the stomach for being a doctor so I decided to do medicinal chemistry instead which you can do via apprenticeships!
